North Dakota bans gender-affirming care for minors.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has signed a bill banning gender-affirming care for most minors, with a possibility of a felony for healthcare professionals who provide it. The bill prohibits health care providers from performing gender-affirming care and procedures on those under the age of 18. Transgender youths’ access to gender-affirming care has become a flashpoint in red states across the country. The new law was opposed by the American Civil Liberties Union of North Dakota and The Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people, called the bill “dangerous”.
