NRA files lawsuit against Maryland governor over gun control legislation.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has filed a lawsuit against Maryland Governor Wes Moore after he signed the Gun Safety Act of 2023 into law. The act prohibits carrying firearms in certain locations and was signed as the US continues to struggle with mass shootings. The NRA claims the law is unconstitutional and restricts the rights of law-abiding citizens. The lawsuit asks the court to declare portions of the law that require carry permits violate the First, Second, and 14th amendments. The governor's office believes the law will help keep communities safe from gun crimes.
