NYC Mayor Eric Adams Ends 90-Day Rule to Aid Homeless and Migrants.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has ended the "90-day rule" that required homeless people to spend three months in shelters before becoming eligible for housing vouchers to help with rent. The move will free up space in the city's shelter system to help deal with the influx of asylum seekers. Families and individuals staying in shelters will now be able to immediately access city-funded rental assistance to help them with more permanent housing. The city is still looking for cheaper ways to house migrants amid the growing asylum seeker crisis. There are currently 80,613 people being housed in the city's shelter system, including 53,643 adults and 26,970 children.
