NYC's Migrant Crisis Sparks Tensions and Preparations in Suburbs and Beyond.

Two New York counties have declared states of emergency to halt New York City's attempt to move asylum-seekers to vacant hotels in their communities, and one is already taking its fight to court. New York City Mayor Eric Adams wants to move 300 recent arrivals to Orange and Rockland counties starting as soon as Wednesday. The issue has caused Republicans in particular to rip Adams. Meanwhile, Gov. Kathy Hochul issued an executive order on Tuesday allowing local governments to more easily access $1 billion allocated in the recently approved state budget to help municipalities support asylum seekers.
