TL;DR

Republican Mazi Pilip secured endorsements from several police and corrections officer unions ahead of the tight House special election to replace George Santos in the 3rd Congressional District seat. The race against Democrat Tom Suozzi is in a statistical dead heat, with Pilip emphasizing support for law enforcement and highlighting the migrant crisis, while Suozzi positions himself as a moderate problem-solver. The election is being closely watched as an early indicator for the 2024 presidential election and could impact the balance of power in the House of Representatives.
