Poll Finds Iran War Backlash, Trump Support Dips as Economy Woes Grow

A Quinnipiac national poll of 963 registered voters (July 23–27, 2026) shows growing opposition to U.S. military action in Iran and doubts about its duration and payoff: 60% oppose, 34% support; 74% oppose sending ground troops; 55% think the action will last about a year or longer and 66% say the war hasn’t been worth fighting. Separately, President Trump’s approval hits a new low at 32% (58% disapprove); 49% say they are worse off financially than a year ago, and inflation is viewed as a serious problem by 88% of voters. The poll also highlights partisan divides on Iran policy and other political issues ahead of the midterms.
