TL;DR

Republican Rep. Bob Good, leader of the House Freedom Caucus, is facing a primary challenge from fellow Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden and a band of House Republicans in Virginia. The infighting reflects a larger battle over the direction of the GOP, with Good's no-compromise approach clashing with calls for compromise and consensus. Good's support for DeSantis in the past and his vote to oust Kevin McCarthy have sparked criticism, while his opponents, including primary opponent John McGuire, are positioning themselves as unifiers and supporters of former President Trump.
