Qatar-donated Air Force One kicks off inaugural flight as Trump touts its luxury
TL;DR
President Donald Trump boarded a Qatar-donated Air Force One (a modified Boeing 747-200) for its inaugural flight, saying the U.S. “couldn’t build a plane like this” due to the money spent. The luxury jet, intended to be used until two U.S.-built VC-25Bs are ready in about two years, has sparked questions about legality, ethics and national security, and reports indicate the plane was formally gifted to the Pentagon with possible plans for it to eventually join Trump’s presidential library.
