Republican efforts to block Oregon legislation fail again.

A Marion County judge has denied a petition by two GOP legislators and Oregon Right To Life to temporarily block Senate Democrats from passing House Bill 2002, which would expand access to abortion and gender-affirming health care. The GOP argued that the bill summary did not meet the readability standard required by state statute, but the judge signaled that the court had no authority to block the Legislature from doing its job. Meanwhile, just two Republican lawmakers showed up in Senate chambers for a scheduled floor session, with ten Republicans and one Independent absent in protest to Democrats’ agenda this year.
