Sen. Bob Menendez to Run as Independent Amid Bribery Charges
TL;DR
Indicted Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey is expected to file for reelection as an independent candidate, complicating the upcoming Senate race. Menendez, currently on trial for federal corruption charges, had previously announced he would not seek a fourth term as a Democrat. His decision comes just before the New Jersey primary, where multiple candidates are vying for party nominations. Menendez's presence in the race could impact the balance of power in the Senate, where Democrats hold a narrow majority.
