Senate swiftly passes funding bills to avert government shutdown
TL;DR
The Senate passed a package of six funding bills to avert a partial government shutdown before the midnight deadline, with a vote of 75-22. The bills, which cover various important programs, will now go to President Joe Biden for signing into law. This $467.5 billion appropriations package provides funding for several departments and federal programs through the end of September. However, Congress still has two weeks to address the remaining six funding bills before the next deadline, which may prove more challenging.
