TL;DR

Senate Minority Whip John Thune, the No. 2 Senate Republican leader, has endorsed former President Trump for the 2024 Republican primary, marking a significant win for Trump from the establishment wing of the party. Thune's endorsement comes after Trump's commanding victory in the South Carolina Republican primary and puts pressure on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has yet to weigh in on the 2024 presidential race.
