SUNY campuses under consideration for housing migrants in New York.

New York State is considering using state-owned properties, including SUNY campuses and closed psychiatric centers, to house migrants as New York City struggles with the growing number of arrivals. Governor Kathy Hochul has directed agencies to find all available state properties to analyze whether they can be used for temporary or longer-term housing. However, local lawmakers have not been contacted and are not prepared to house and care for migrants at this time. St. Lawrence County has declared a state of emergency, but officials say they have limited funding to handle the situation.
