The Impact of a Trump Indictment on the Nation and its Supporters
TL;DR
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy aggressively defended former President Donald Trump after he was indicted on 37 counts of mishandling top secret documents, calling it a "dark day for America." Republicans rushed to defend Trump despite the overwhelming evidence presented in the 49-page indictment, with some calling it a "war phase" and others claiming it was a political witch hunt. The indictment comes from a grand jury and includes details of Trump's reckless storage of top secret material he took to Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House, and his efforts to obstruct investigators.
