Tim Sheehy, Former Navy SEAL, Challenges Sen. Tester in Montana Senate Race

Tim Sheehy, a decorated military veteran and wealthy businessman, has launched a GOP challenge to unseat Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) in the upcoming U.S. Senate race. Sheehy, who is heavily recruited by national Republican leaders, aims to present himself as a conservative leader who can solve problems and bring a new generation of leadership to Montana. The race remains uncertain as Rep. Matthew M. Rosendale (R-Mont.) is also considering running. Sheehy's bid has received support from Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), who believes Sheehy is the only candidate capable of defeating Tester. Democrats hope to hold the seat as part of their efforts to maintain control of the Senate.
