Trump Appoints Ex-NFL Player Scott Turner as HUD Secretary
TL;DR
President-elect Donald Trump has appointed former Texas state Rep. Scott Turner as the new secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Turner's leadership is expected to align with Trump's previous attempts to cut HUD's budget and implement restrictive housing policies. The administration's Project 2025 outlines proposals such as banning undocumented families from federally assisted housing and tightening work requirements for housing aid. While some experts anticipate significant budget cuts, others believe the focus will be on regulatory changes and private market solutions.
