Trump housing chief files new DOJ referrals against NY AG James

Bill Pulte, Trump's top housing official, issued two new criminal referrals to the Justice Department accusing New York Attorney General Letitia James of suspected homeowners insurance fraud tied to two insurers (Allstate in Illinois and Universal Property Insurance in Florida). The referrals, which cited posts on X by Mike Davis, were sent to US Attorneys in the Northern District of Illinois and the Southern District of Florida, and the DOJ said it had received them. James’s attorney Abbe Lowell denounced the move as an ongoing revenge campaign after a prior Virginia fraud case against James was dismissed when a court found Trump’s interim US Attorney appointment invalid. If federal prosecutors pursue charges, the case could resemble the Virginia matter but in a different district.
