Trump Pressures Senate GOP for Recess Appointment Power
TL;DR
President-elect Donald Trump is urging Senate Republicans to support recess appointments for his Cabinet and other officials, a move that could influence the GOP leadership race in the Senate. This procedure allows appointees to serve without Senate confirmation while Congress is out of session. Trump's push is seen as a loyalty test for Senate leadership candidates and a strategy to avoid delays in confirming his picks. Some GOP leaders, like John Thune and John Cornyn, have endorsed the idea, while others see it as a negotiating tactic with Democrats.
