Trump's G7 jab backfires as Meloni rallies Italian pride
TL;DR
Trump’s dig at Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni over a G7 photo has sparked a nationalist backlash in Italy, with Meloni denying the claim and receiving praise for defending Italy’s dignity. Analysts say the clash united Italians across the political spectrum and could bolster Meloni’s popularity as she frames Italy’s interests against Trump’s criticisms and broader European sentiment.
