US government shutdown persists amid political clashes and leadership challenges
TL;DR

The shutdown has led to federal worker layoffs, and debates continue over funding priorities and legal actions regarding military pay. House Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to negotiate with Senate Democrats, further prolonging the impasse.
