Utah Governor Cox Approves New State Flag Design

Utah Governor Spencer Cox has signed a bill approving a new state flag, which will take effect in March 2024. The new flag features a beehive and star surrounded by a hexagon, snowy mountains, and red rocks on a blue foundation, representing various aspects of the state's history, people, and geography. The historic Utah flag will continue to be displayed on certain holidays and special occasions. A potential public referendum could challenge the change, but as of Tuesday, the referendum effort had only 137 signatures, well under the 134,298 needed by April 12.
