Texas A-F grades show flat performance as takeovers loom

Texas released its latest A-F accountability ratings for more than 9,000 public campuses. The distribution was 24% A, 34% B, 23% C, 10% D, and 4% F. Five consecutive F ratings can trigger a state takeover; such actions occurred last year in Fort Worth, Beaumont, Connally, and Lake Worth. The ratings aim to help families and businesses evaluate where to send kids and invest, but critics say they disproportionately harm low-income, Hispanic and Black schools. The system assesses Student achievement, School progress, and Closing the gaps.
