New study reveals high frequency of great white sharks near California coast.

Juvenile great white sharks are regularly swimming uncomfortably close to people off San Diego and Santa Barbara, according to a study by researchers at the Shark Lab at Long Beach State. The study discovered that sharks are present 97% of the time near people and get within 60 feet of swimmers or surfers without being noticed. However, no interaction or attacks were reported during the two-year study. The researchers are now trying to understand why sharks don't attack people and recommend that people treat sharks like all wild animals and leave them alone.
