Trans Student Forced to Dress as Boy for Graduation, Court Rules

A federal judge in Mississippi has refused to block a school district from requiring a transgender girl to dress as a boy for her high school graduation. The American Civil Liberties Union had filed a lawsuit on behalf of the 17-year-old girl, who had chosen a dress to wear with her cap and gown. The school district told her she must follow the boys' clothing rules for graduation. The lawsuit argued that the girl should not face discriminatory treatment during graduation, but the judge ruled that participating in a graduation ceremony is voluntary and not a constitutionally protected right for any student.
