The Los Angeles Dodgers faced backlash after withdrawing an honorary award to be bestowed on the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group founded in San Francisco in 1979 that uses drag and satire to fundraise for underserved communities and to satirize intolerance. The Dodgers seemed to miss the entire point of having a Pride Night, which is inclusion and welcome, not bowing to homophobia. Several prominent LGBTQ groups withdrew from participating in the Dodgers’ Pride Night because of the team’s rash decision.
