IRS Extends Tax Deadline for California Storm Victims to Nov. 16

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has extended the tax-filing and tax-payment deadline for most California taxpayers to November 16, 2023, due to the natural disasters that occurred last winter. This extension applies to individuals and businesses in 55 out of 58 counties in California. Taxpayers in the designated disaster areas automatically receive the extra time without having to request it. The relief covers various tax-related actions, including filing 2022 returns, making tax payments, and contributing to IRAs and health savings accounts. Additional tax relief options are available for those who suffered uninsured or unreimbursed disaster-related losses.
