The Florida Division of Emergency Management apologized for sending a test emergency alert at 4:45 a.m. on Thursday, waking up many Floridians. The agency said the alert was supposed to be on TV and not disturb anyone already sleeping. Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered swift accountability for the inappropriate use of the system. Early morning tests are scheduled throughout the year, with a 4:50 a.m. alert scheduled for June, according to the Florida Association of Broadcasters.
