Plan Ahead: Real-Time TSA Wait Times Amid Shutdown Disruptions
TL;DR
Amid a partial government shutdown, TSA staffing shortages caused hours-long lines at several airports, including Houston Hobby (up to three hours). Travelers can monitor live security wait times on airport websites, use the MyTSA app for 15‑minute interval estimates (though data may be historical if live data isn’t available), or check flight-tracking sites like FlightAware (Misery Map) and Flightradar24 for airport delays. TSA PreCheck lanes remain open nationwide but could be suspended at some airports if shortages worsen. Plan to arrive early and stay flexible as wait times can change.
