"US Long-Distance Trails Gain National Park Status, Including Ice Age Trail"

The Ice Age, New England, and North Country national scenic trails in the northern United States have been designated as National Park System sites, increasing the total number of units to 428. These trails, which span across multiple states, offer opportunities for outdoor recreation and access to green spaces. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail stretches nearly 1,200 miles in Wisconsin, the New England National Scenic Trail extends 235 miles in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and the North Country National Scenic Trail is still in progress and will span 4,600 miles across eight states when completed.
