CIA Releases 71 Declassified 9/11 Briefings on 25th Anniversary

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the CIA posted 71 declassified documents on its website drawn from daily intelligence briefings to Presidents Clinton and Bush. CIA Director John Ratcliffe called it the largest release of CIA analysis related to 9/11. The documents cover February 1998 through Sept. 12, 2001, and come as families push for accountability related to Saudi involvement in the attacks. The release echoes findings from the 9/11 Commission about intelligence-sharing failures and a “failure of imagination” that helped spur reforms like the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
