Exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui handed 30-year fraud sentence in US

A Manhattan federal judge sentenced self-exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui to 30 years in prison after he was convicted on nine of twelve fraud charges for leading schemes that defrauded investors of more than $1 billion through his media ventures, including GTV Media Group. Prosecutors had urged a 30-year term, saying the fraud financed an extravagant lifestyle that harmed hundreds of victims, while Guo’s lawyers portrayed the case as a politically motivated attack by China against dissidents.”
