Florida Hiker Fatally Mauled by Massive Alligator in Three-Feet-Deep River

A 31-year-old Florida woman was fatally mauled by a large alligator while kneeling in about three feet of water in the Econlockhatchee River; her boyfriend and best friend were with her as the reptile attacked, and the boyfriend called 911. Officials later captured two alligators near the scene, and investigators say mating season and low water may have contributed, with no signs of provocation. She died en route to the hospital.
