Triathlete Survives Alligator Encounter During Training, Eyes Ironman Comeback
Jonathan Bruney, a 31-year-old triathlete training for an Ironman in a South Carolina river, was bitten by a large alligator. He escaped by using a survival move—targeting the gator’s eyes—and sustained arm injuries that were later deemed non-life-threatening. A fellow athlete applied a tourniquet, and Bruney plans to compete in the Ironman next month despite the scare.
