Four dead after small plane crashes into shallow Alaskan waters near Seldovia

A Piper PA-24 carrying four adults crashed into shallow waters near the remote Alaska town of Seldovia after taking off from Anchorage, sinking about 15 feet deep; authorities recovered the four bodies and the NTSB opened an investigation. The crash occurred roughly 136 miles southwest of Anchorage. Senator Dan Sullivan said he’d be briefed by the NTSB and FAA as investigators determine the cause. A separate fatal crash at a western Alaska military site occurred less than a week earlier.
