Illinois mother charged with murder after killing her 2-year-old son and attempting suicide

Corie A. Walsh, 40, of Frankfort, Illinois, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder after authorities say she killed her 2-year-old son Barrett and then attempted to harm herself; the child was found dead in the basement and Walsh was found in a bathtub, with autopsy ruling asphyxia by ligature. Prosecutors say Walsh had recently become obsessed with the Lindsay Clancy case and had discussed harming her other children and husband in text messages before the incident. The home’s infant was unharmed, the husband was away, and Walsh remains in custody under medical care and will be transferred to the Will County jail when cleared.
