Bay Area Storm Causes Bridge Damage and Commute Delays.

San Francisco's Lefty O'Doul Bridge, also known as the Third Street Bridge, was damaged during Tuesday's bomb cyclone when two barges were ripped loose from their moorings and repeatedly smashed into the wooden pedestrian walkway. The bridge, which opened in 1933 and is a city landmark, was fully closed while crews assessed damage, but partially reopened by 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Francisco's Department of Public Works said that one westbound and two eastbound lanes are open, while the second westbound lane and the adjacent pedestrian walkway remain closed for inspection.
