Heavy Rain Causes Multiple Road Closures in San Diego and Arizona

Non-stop overnight rain from a storm caused flooding and road closures in San Diego County, including the closure of state Route 78 in both directions near El Camino Real due to a failed culvert and a massive sinkhole. Mission Valley area was also underwater, prompting officials to shut down all roadways that cross along the San Diego River. Dozens of crashes were reported on rain-slicked roadways and downed trees across the county, causing traffic delays and a flood advisory was in effect until 2 p.m. Thursday. More rain is expected in the region this weekend.
