Heavy Rainfall Expected to Disrupt Daily Life in Drought-Stricken South

A cold front moving across the South is expected to bring the heaviest rainfall since early October to the drought-stricken region. Widespread rain is forecasted from southern and southeastern Texas to the Ark-La-Tex region, with showers extending into parts of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. While the rain is welcome, it will not be enough to make up for the significant rainfall deficits experienced in many areas. The Gulf Coast states, including Texas and Louisiana, are expected to receive between 3 and 5 inches of rainfall, while other states like Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia will see lower amounts. The ongoing rain event has the potential to produce a month's worth of rainfall in just three days for the Houston area.
