"Recovered: FBI Returns Stolen WWII Japanese Artifacts to Okinawa"

Twenty-two historic artifacts, including a hand-drawn map of Okinawa from the 19th century, were returned to Japan after being discovered in a Massachusetts home and determined to have been looted during World War II. The items, which also included portraits of Okinawan kings, pottery, and ceramics, were found by a family going through their late father's belongings. After contacting the FBI, a painstaking effort was made to confirm the origin of the artifacts and return them to Japan, where they arrived on Friday. A formal repatriation ceremony will be held at a later date.
