Fire Aboard USS Ford Leaves Two Sailors Injured, Carrier Stays On Mission

A fire originated in the USS Gerald R. Ford’s main laundry spaces and was extinguished, with damage control underway. Two sailors sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are in stable condition. The carrier remains fully operational while deployed in the Red Sea region as part of Operation Epic Fury; a U.S. official said the fire was not combat-related and caused no propulsion damage. The Navy is coordinating with maintenance personnel to provide electrical and other support as needed.
