Five Alleged Russian Operatives Charged in Global Plots, DOJ Says

The US Department of Justice unsealed an indictment charging five individuals—Russian nationals Yuri Khrameev and his son Kirill, Cuban nationals Oemis Romagoza Durruthy and Yaidel Delgado Suarez, and Venezuelan Angel Eduardo Castro—with conspiring to finance terrorism and, for Khrameev, Suarez, and Castro, conspiring to commit murder for hire; prosecutors say they acted for Russian intelligence to conduct surveillance, recruit operatives in the US, and plan killings globally, including a DC-area dissident and a target in Lithuania. A recruit was offered $40,000 to make a US-based target disappear and another $25,000 to kill in Lithuania; all five remain at large and Moscow denies involvement.
