Black Widow Injection Leads to Bad Trip for Woman

A woman injected a crushed-up black widow spider in an attempt to get high in the 1990s, but ended up spending a few days in the ICU with breathing difficulties, muscle cramping, and possible anaphylaxis. Doctors theorized that a protein within the spider’s anatomy may have triggered an allergic reaction that could explain some of her severe symptoms. Fortunately, the woman recovered from her symptoms and was reportedly in good health during a check-up one month on.
