Forbidden Stars and Water Ice: Unveiling the Turbulent Formation History of the Milky Way's Central Star

Astronomers have discovered a cluster of young stars, known as IRS13, near the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way. The stars in IRS13 are much younger than expected, with an age of around 100,000 years. This finding challenges previous theories that high-energy radiation and tidal forces would disrupt star formation in this region. In a separate study, water ice was also discovered at the galactic center, indicating the unexpected youth of stars in the vicinity of the black hole. The researchers believe that IRS13 may have been pushed towards the black hole, resulting in the formation of new stars. Further study of IRS13 could provide insights into the effects of supermassive black holes on their surroundings.
