"October's Ring of Fire Eclipse: A Spectacular Celestial Event in the Western US"

The U.S. will witness a "ring of fire" annular eclipse on October 14, 2023, for the first time since May 2012. This type of eclipse occurs when the moon is at or near its farthest point from Earth, appearing smaller than the sun and creating a ring-like effect. The eclipse will be visible in parts of the U.S., Mexico, and several countries in South and Central America. Oregon and Texas will experience a 90% eclipse, while a partial eclipse will be visible in all 49 continental states. NASA will use this opportunity to study the sun and test scientific equipment for the total solar eclipse in April 2024.
