Haumea's Closest Approach to Earth in 285 Years Tonight.

Dwarf planet Haumea, located in the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune, will reach both opposition and perigee tonight, making it visible in the night sky in the constellation Boötes. Haumea is roughly the size of Pluto, takes about 285 years to orbit the sun, and rotates extremely fast, taking just four hours to complete one rotation. It is stretched out like a football instead of round like most other planets and dwarf planets, and is the only known dwarf planet to have rings, and it also has two small moons, Namaka and Hi'iaka.
