NBA Cites Economy for Hiring Freeze and Budget Reductions

The NBA has instructed league office staff to reduce expenses and limit hiring for the rest of the fiscal year due to "economic headwinds." The league will cut travel, entertainment, and other expenses, and cancel some off-site meetings or hold them virtually. The NBA is "facing a very different economic reality than just one year ago," according to a memo obtained by The New York Times. The changes come just before the NBA playoffs and a day after the league noted setting a record for attendance and sellouts for the 2022-23 regular season.
