Padres Near Robbie Ray Deal to Bolster Rotation
TL;DR
San Diego is close to acquiring Robbie Ray from the San Francisco Giants, with Miguel Mendez and Joniel Hernandez headed to the Giants in exchange. Ray would join a Padres rotation that currently features Michael King and a group of swingmen, carrying a 3.08 ERA this season on a five-year, $115 million contract originally signed with Seattle; the Giants are paying a portion of his remaining salary as part of the deal.
