Is Sam Darnold the Most Talented Thrower in 49ers History?
TL;DR
San Francisco 49ers' new quarterback Sam Darnold has been praised for his physical talent by former teammate Frank Gore, but comparisons to Joe Montana and Steve Young are unwarranted. While Darnold was a high draft pick due to his throwing ability, he has yet to prove himself as a great NFL quarterback. The 49ers have a crowded quarterback room with Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, and Brandon Allen, and it remains to be seen if Darnold will ever see playing time with the team.
