"Mavericks' Trade Deadline Moves: A Risky All-In on P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford"
TL;DR
Grant Williams reportedly "rubbed a lot of people the wrong way" in Dallas before being traded to the Charlotte Hornets, with the Mavericks giving up a 2030 swap for him and then quickly dumping him. The Mavs acquired P.J. Washington and two future second-round picks from the Hornets for Williams, Seth Curry, and a 2027 first-round draft pick. Williams' performance declined in Dallas, leading to him falling out of favor with the club, while the Mavericks have since seen success on the court.
