Royals' Austin Cox called up, Kris Bubic on 60-day IL
TL;DR
The Kansas City Royals have selected the contract of left-hander Austin Cox from Triple-A Omaha, while placing southpaw Kris Bubic on the 60-day injured list. Cox, a fifth-round pick in 2018, has a 2.21 ERA in 20 1/3 innings this season. The Royals have struggled to develop reliable starting pitchers from their recent emphasis on college pitchers, with only Brad Keller and the injured Bubic having ERAs under 6.00. Cox could potentially join the starting rotation, which has a combined 5.80 ERA this season.
